There's a story about a farmer who took first place at the county fair fifteen years in a row. Every year, his cow won. Every year, the same farmer.
People asked him how he did it. How do you raise the winner, every single time, for fifteen straight years?
He told them he didn't raise the winner. He picked the winner. Every spring he'd walk through a lot of a hundred calves and he'd know, from how they stood and how they moved and how they held themselves at one week old, which one would win.
He had what every old farmer in that county knew about and almost nobody else could see. The farmer's eye.
That's what coaching wrestling for almost twenty years does to you.
You stop seeing a kid wrestling. You start seeing thirty things in five seconds. The hip that's a quarter-second slow on the sprawl. The grip that's leaking energy. The breath pattern that's already breaking in the second period. The shot setup that looks fine to a parent and is going to get countered every time at the next level. The squat that's grooved wrong, the snatch that's bracing instead of rotating, the run that's burning the wrong fuel.
You can read every wrestling book in print. You can watch every match on every streaming service. You can drive your kid to every clinic and every camp and every private lesson, and you can pay every coach in your zip code. You will still not develop the eye. The eye comes from twenty years of watching wrestlers at every level, every weight, every age, every state, every style, with a CSCS framework underneath it that tells you what the body is actually doing.

Direct Access to the Eye.
APEX Lite is direct coaching from me, capped at six athletes total. You and your wrestler get me in your corner. You send me video. I tell you what I see.
Send me anything. Wrestling matches, training clips, lifting sessions, conditioning workouts, weight room form, mat practice, scramble drills, anything. I watch every clip you send and I respond with what's working, what isn't, and exactly what to fix next.
You can text me with questions. Wrestling, strength and conditioning, mental performance, weight cuts, recovery, nutrition, decisions about clubs and camps, anything in my scope. If it's about your wrestler's development, it's fair game.
We schedule calls when you want them. Some clients want a call every other week. Some want one every couple of months. The cadence is yours.
The one thing APEX Lite does not include is custom strength and conditioning programming. That's APEX. APEX Lite assumes you have the S&C side handled, whether through Champion's Circle, your own programming, or another source. APEX Lite is the coaching layer. It runs on top of whatever your wrestler is already doing.
I do not interfere with what your club coach programs for practice. That's their job and I stay out of it.

Send me anything. Match footage, training clips, S&C sessions, technique work, scramble drills, weight room form. I watch every clip and respond with specific feedback. What's working. What isn't. What to fix next.
DIRECT TEXT ACCESS
When something feels off or a question comes up, you text me. Wrestling, strength and conditioning, mental performance, weight cuts, nutrition, decisions about training and competition. If it's about your wrestler's development, ask. Typical response within 24 to 48 hours.
CALLS WHEN YOU WANT THEM
Schedule a call when you want one. Some clients want a call every other week. Some go a month between calls. The cadence is yours. The relationship starts with an intake call to align on goals and current state.
COVERS WRESTLING AND S&C
APEX Lite covers everything your wrestler does, both on the mat and in the weight room. The only thing it doesn't include is custom S&C programming. That's APEX. APEX Lite layers on top of whatever you're currently running.
APEX Lite Is for Three Kinds of Parents.
This is the most direct coaching access I offer outside of full APEX. It's not for every wrestling family. Three buyer profiles, named honestly:
Profile 1
The parent who handles the S&C themselves.
You're a former athlete, a CrossFitter, a strength coach, or someone who has put in the time to learn programming. You don't need me to write your kid's S&C. You need someone with twenty years of wrestling coaching to look at your kid's matches, training, and development and tell you what you're missing. That's me.
Profile 2
The Champion's Circle member ready for direct coaching.
Your wrestler is already running Champion's Circle programming and getting results. You want my eyes on the work. APEX Lite layers on top of Circle. Your wrestler keeps running the daily programming inside the app, and you and I work directly on what the program is producing.
Profile 3
The parent already on someone else's program.
Your wrestler is at a club with a strength coach, or running another online program, or has a setup that's working. You don't want to change what you're doing for S&C. You want a wrestling expert in your corner without disrupting the rest. APEX Lite respects what you've built. I coach on top of it.
APEX Lite Is Not for Every Family.
APEX Lite is not the right fit if:
Your wrestler is younger than 8.
You want me to write custom S&C programming. That's APEX.
You want me to program wrestling practice. I don't do that. That's your club coach's job.
You're looking for the cheapest option.
You expect results in two weeks.
You won't actually send video or use the access. The product only works if you use it.
If APEX Lite isn't right, that's a clean answer. The intake call is where we figure that out. I'd rather tell you the truth than sell you something that doesn't fit.

Who You're Working With.
I'm Dane Whitted. I've been coaching wrestling since 2008. The eye I'm describing on this page is what eighteen years of doing this every day produces.
I'm a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA CSCS), a National CrossFit Champion, a US Army combat veteran, and a NASM Certified Fitness Trainer. I wrestled through high school, played college football, and trained two years with Tiger Schulmann's professional MMA team before going back to finish my degree and earn my CSCS.
The athletes I'm known for are my own. Andrew and Alexander, my twin sons, are multi-time Tennessee state champions. Ayla Sahin, who trains with me remotely from Germany, won silver at the U17 World Championships last year.
